Kate Burns is a professional facilitator, thought leader, poet and speaker in Los Angeles. Her signature approach to emotional wellness encourages audiences to utilize the tools of compassion, forgiveness, understanding, and non-judgement to break through emotional and mental blocks that keep them stuck in self-sabotaging patterns. 

 

She helps people reconnect to their authentic Self so they can achieve their goals; thrive in community; combat anxiety, depression, and overwhelm; experience alignment; and show up in the world from a place of inner power and peace.

 

As someone who has traveled to almost 60 countries, Kate brings an inter-cultural approach to her workshops that interweaves a multitude of beliefs, ideas, and practices. With the full recognition that there is no one “right” way or path in life, Kate empowers each and every participant to define success, happiness, and fulfillment for themselves, as well as provides them with the necessary tools to achieve their goals.

 

Her work includes multimedia lecture presentations, embodied creative writing workshops, radical compassion meditations, emotional care kit creation workshops, and 5-minute daily practices that have EXPONENTIAL effects on long-term emotional & mental well-being.

Kate Burns is also the creator of the "Emotional Care Kit", a ground-breaking emotional well-being tool that utilizes foundational principles from therapeutic practices around the world and is based on the common-sense concept of the "first aid kit". As someone who struggled for years with depression and suicidal ideation, Kate Burns understands from both a personal and trained perspective just how invaluable tangible healing tools can be in life-or-death moments. While Emotional Care Kits are especially helpful to those struggling with suicidal ideation, depression, fear of being a burden on others, social anxiety, and overwhelming feelings of being alone/not having anyone to rely on when things get REALLY bad, they are also helpful to those who struggle with emotional dysregulation, repeated emotional triggers, feelings of worthlessness, and deep-rooted fear of being inherently unlovable. 

The Emotional Care Kit was born one day when Kate was struggling through an especially gut-wrenching thought spiral that left her desperate for any life-line of confirmation that her life had value and meaning. Unable to pick up the phone and chance "ruining" someone else's day with the darkness inside of her, she thought bitterly about how unfair it was that there was no "first aid kit" for her mind that she could turn to when an accidental thought would cut through her peace of mind no different than the slip of a knife through an unsuspecting finger in the kitchen. She got through that dark episode by imagining what such a kit would have inside it, and as her mind started to ease and the darkness lost its grip on her heart, she came up with a list of everything she would need to combat the fears, emotions, and thoughts she struggled with most often. A few days later, the first-ever Emotional Care Kit was birthed into existence by a willingness to overcome and a dedication to self-love. That initial kit has since gone through several iterations as Kate continued to study mental health and social-emotional well-being, but it remains a turning point not only in Kate's personal healing journey, but in the healing journeys of hundreds of others who have since attended Kate's workshops and accessed her resources to create their own, personalized Emotional Care Kits.
